Welcome to AlumniAdvisor, where you can get expert career assessment and
counseling exclusively for MBA alumni. CareerLeader, LLP (developers of CareerLeader¨, the
assessment program used in over 250 business programs and corporations all over the world) have
been working with alumni of MBA programs for the last 20 years in many of the top MBA programs,
and we bring that knowledge and expertise to our work with you. We understand your goals, your
concerns, your abilities, and the opportunities open to you.
Most importantly, we understand the world MBAs live and work in. We know
about the industries MBAs work in and the positions you hold, and we understand them at a depth
that may surprise you. As one client put it, "Other people can tell you, 'You should definitely
be in business,' or even, 'You should be in finance.' You helped me think about whether I
should trade bonds or equities, on the buy side or the sell side, and even in what kind of firm
culture!" Business career counseling is our specialty and our customers appreciate our depth of
knowledge. In fact, we have written two popular books on this subject as well as published
numerous articles in Fortune, and theHarvard Business Review on these topics.
People come to us for help with one or more of three broad categories
of career issues:
| Mission |
"I don't know what I want to do with the rest of my life,
where I want to be ten years from now."
"When I got out of business school I thought I'd like this work, but I don't."
"I think I took this job because all my friends were going into this area, and now
they're happy -- but I'm not."
"I've achieved the goals I set out for myself. Now what?" |
| Strategy |
"I know where I want to end up, but I don't know how to get
there. If I'm here at point 'A', can I make it in one 'jump' to point 'C', or do I need
to go through point 'B' first?"
"I think that spending a couple of years in point 'B' would be a big help -- but is
that feasible or even possible now?"
"I turned down an offer from Company 'X' when I was graduating -- a decision I now
regret. How can I (if at all) reopen that door now?"
"I have an offer in point 'B'. If I take it, will it make it harder me to then move
to point 'C'?" |
| Tactics |
"I know where I want to go and how to get there, but I
haven't interviewed for a job in eight years and I know I'm rusty! Can you help me
with a mock interview?"
"I don't know how to translate my experience in my current industry and function into
language that the people where I want to go will understand."
"I don't know anyone in the company I want to go to, and networking isn't my strength."
"How do I explain the fact that I left my last job?"
"Will headhunters be able to help me make my next move?" |
You may have questions or concerns that fall into one or more of these
categories (or something entirely different). When you call us, we'll work with you to determine
what kind of career assistance you may need from us: perhaps career assessment testing, or just
some help talking through the issues and getting an objective and knowledgeable point of
view -- or we may decide that we're not the right people for you, and help you find someone
who can serve you better. Regardless, there is no charge for this initial consultation. Most
people who consult with us spend about an hour and a half talking with us (this can be either
face to face or by phone). Our fee for this session is $750. If you need less (or more) time,
we simply pro-rate the charge.

Additionally, you may be interested in CareerLeader, our online
self-assessment program. CareerLeader can be especially helpful as the first step in a broad
review of your career goals and objectives. It comprises three tests we have developed specially
for business professionals, to help clarify your business-focused interests, motivators, and
abilities -- and what the combination of the three means for you. A 60-day subscription
costs $75 (representing a $20 discount for MBA alumni). Taking our tests before engaging in
counseling work can help you to make the most of your consultation time with us, but is
not required. Our initial consultation can help clarify whether that would be worthwhile.
If you think you want to schedule a consultation, or just have
questions about the services we offer, please give us a call (toll free) at 866-666-8605.
We look forward to working with you.
